The Dental Implant Process

If you’ve lost one or more of your natural teeth to illness, tooth decay, or physical injury, you may already know that dental implants offer a proven, attractive, permanent solution. But if you select implants for your dental restoration, what can you expect? River Oaks implant dentist Dr. Heather Fleschler can help you achieve the smile you want and would be pleased to discuss your dental implant options with you.

You’ll first meet with Dr. Fleschler for an evaluation. She’ll discuss your aesthetic and health goals with you and plan the best course of treatment to meet them.

Dr. Fleschler will then refer you to a trusted periodontist who specializes in the placement of dental implants. If any damaged teeth need to be removed, the periodontist will extract them at this time. If your jawbone is thin or soft, bone grafting will also be performed to provide a solid foundation for the implant. When your jaw is ready, the dental implant is surgically inserted into your jawbone.

Once the implant has been placed and your jaw has healed, Dr. Fleschler will attach a small titanium post, called an abutment, to the dental implant. Your custom-designed dental crown will be created by one of the finest labs in the country to ensure beautiful results that blend in seamlessly with your natural teeth. When your crown has been completed, Dr. Fleschler will attach it to the abutment. Before you know it, you’ll be showing off your beautiful new smile.

To learn how dental implants can improve your appearance, oral health, and quality of life, please contact Dr. Heather Fleschler today to schedule an appointment. We proudly serve patients in River Oaks and throughout the greater Houston area.
